There's much to talk about in the Literary World today!
First of all, the winners of The Quill Awards were announced. It is no surprise Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince by J. K. Rowlings won both the Book of the Year and Children's Chapter Book / Middle Grade Reader. Any author who can make children read a book the size of War and Peace is a winner in my book!
Also another favorite, The Mermaid Chair by Sue Kidd Monk won the award for General Fiction.
One of my favorite books this year, Carry Me Home by Sandra Kring was nominated for a Quill Award, but didn't make the short list. Anyone who has read Earwig's story knows that Sandra is a winner. She's just finished her second book and there's always next year.
In other news, British playwright and campaigner Harold Pinter has won the 2005 Nobel Prize for literature. His career spanned fifty years! What writer wouldn't doesn't dream of a career like that. You can read all about it in this BBC article.
As for us here at The Scruffy Dog Revew, the submissions are rolling in. But we still don't have yours and there's still time.
